Engine failure is sometimes described as a heart attack for your car. This is because the engine is very similar to the heart, in that if it fails then you have a very serious problem. Put another way, the functioning engine is what allows a car to move just like a beating heart allows a person to move.

If you’re worried that your car’s engine may be failing, then some questions to ask include:

• Does your car jerk or sputter when driven?
• Is your check engine light or other safety lights lit up?
• Has there been an increase in the number of rumbles, spurts and squeaks from your car recently?
• Is there blue or white smoke coming from the engine or the exhaust?
• Has your car’s engine emitted some odd smells recently?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then it is most likely that your car’s engine will need to be repaired or at least inspected.
